Wednesday's Silly Purchase Suggestion

Too tired to post yesterday. I trained really hard and was spent. When I sat down at the computer the idea of my fingers moving across the keyboard was exhausting in itself. So I stared at the screen and thought about all I should write for about an hour then went to bed. I woke up this morning my muscles sore but my mind refreshed. I love training. I have said it before and I will say it again. Martial Arts is my Prozac. And dancing with my ninja friends, of course. Things that lift my spirits and rejuvenate my soul.
What also lifts my spirit is...... ninja shopping.

Wednesday's silly ninja purchase is......
PLUSH NINJA DOG TOY!
Because your dogs need to have a little ninja fun too.

Be happy

Ninja with a cause Monday

I was pondering the plight of the individuals who have Gastroparesis, (paralyze stomach, basically)
I have been trying to read up on it and try and get a grasp on it all. I could never understand what a person must endure. And that is what they have to do, Endure.

Let's look at the word Endure.
Definition
1- to hold out against
2- to bear without resistance or with patience
3- to continue to exist, last.

One way to translate the word Ninja is "one who endures"

To the people I speak of in the first sentence - You are Ninja and I am humbled by your strength

Be aware and buy a bracelet.

Ninja catch up

I've been internetless for a few days. I know... the horror.
So it is catch up time. I'll summarize..
Tuesday I was going to ponder the words honesty and truth.
I don't believe people are completely honest with each other or themselves.
And I cool with that.
I don't believe it is possible to know the whole truth.
Due to people's individual  perceptions, views and selective vision.

Wednesday I was going to suggest
Awesome animated series. My kids and I watched the series together to it's completion. It is a three book collection  (Seasons)
You can buy it on Amazon.com.

Thursdays combination is P1, slip to the left, 3, 2, K2, K1

Friday, Friday, Friday. Ninja, Ninja, Ninja. Fun, Fun, Fun, in the the Arizona sun, sun, sun.
Ninjas in the wild.

Ninja for a cause

Do you have a cause? Because I do. I have a few that are very personal and important to me. Right now I am focusing on Gastroparesis awareness. Chances of getting Digestive Tract Paralysis is 1 in 25.

Gastroparesis Overview
Gastric motility disorders are gastrointestinal conditions which affect the body's ability to digest food normally. A number of conditions fall into this category, including gastroparesis.
Gastroparesis literally means paralyzed stomach.  It is one of the most severe and complicated gastric motility disorders. It can be caused by a number of factors and is commonly seen in the diabetic population. Often the cause is unknown. It is more prominent among females than males. Approximately 5 million Americans, including children, suffer from gastroparesis. In some instances, it appears for a brief time and goes away on it's own or improves with treatment. Many cases are refractory and do not respond well to treatment.
Gastroparesis is complicated to treat and treatment options are limited. There are few medications available, mostly geared towards symptom control rather than dealing with the underlying problem. For this reason, they are often ineffective.
Additional treatment options include diet changes, certain surgical procedures, and in severe cases, nutritional support through feeding tubes or IV nutrition.

I copied and pasted this info from G-Pact.org. I wanted to make sure I got the information correct. It's important and I am sure they will understand. This way you don't have to click once more to get more information.
But if you want to read more click here - http://g-pact.org/

Be aware

What's your cause?

Thursday's combination

Slip, 2, 3, 2, F1, F2

I like front kicks. They are my favorite. I am fond of low round one kicks as well. I like to double them up. Low than high. I don't like knee kicks. Receiving them or trying to use them against another. If I am in close I prefer punching. When on the receiving side I know to drive into them and bring my arm up and around and push the side of the face for release. But I usually just drive into them and think what am I suppose to do next. I always forget. There are other releases but I forget them too when I am in the clinch. But I like front kicks.

Be good

Can you spell that for me?

I have a friend who has this disease called Gastroparesis.
I can barely spell it let alone pronounce it. She explains in simple terms it means paralyzed stomach.
I looked on her facebook page and saw she changed her profile picture to the imagine below.
(DTP means Digestive Tract Paralysis- I looked it up.)
Yeah I am not the smartest ninja wanna be on the block.

So I asked myself the question. Then I asked what if I could NOT eat. I love food. I love to eat. It is one of the basic pleasures in my life. Sometimes too pleasurable, hence the fifteen extra pounds around my belly. I went to a bridal shower on Sunday and yes it was about bride but hey what about the food. People sitting and standing and munching.
"Oh did you try this? It's delicious."
"Yes I know. The salad is out of this world."
"The selection of tea sandwiches is heavenly."
"The spicy pickles are spectacular."
"We must split a gourmet cupcake or two."
Then I realize food is a social tool as well. I went to the the website - G-pact.org and read more about not just the physical but social effects it causes.
This disease is devastating in so many ways. But lets face it it does not get the press the big diseases get like Cancer, Heart disease, Diabetes. (And they are much easier to pronounce.)
Do not get me wrong research and awareness are important in all diseases but I would like to get a little more press out there about this one.
Ponder and wonder today if you were unable to eat or worried you may not be able to eat tomorrow. How would your body survive? How would it effect your state of mind?

Be healthy

Samurai shirt I fancy

So there is this tee shirt site I frequent. Shirt.woot.com. You buy a shirt and you can vote in their derby/tee shirt design contest. Each week different theme. You vote on the designs you like and the top three are printed. This week is back to school and this is one of the entries. I hope it wins.
Can you say obsessive much?

tginff (thank god it's ninja fun Friday)

Why yes, it has been one of those weeks and not just for me.
For those of you who look back at the week and it's all a blur,
Find some time to sneak away. Have a drink and a giggle. Share a smile and a laugh.
Relax, take a breath, forget about the stresses of life if only for a brief time.
Like the expression  says, stop and smell the roses.
But I looked it up online and it is actually stop and the smell the flowers.
The original quote is by a golfer named Walter Hagen in 1956.
"You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers on the way."
I want to add "and kick back and enjoy an ice cold beer."

I want to do real bad things to you.

Wednesday's purchase will be held on Saturday

My friend designed this shirt. You should buy it especially if you are a True Blood fan.
I know it is not a ninja product but I do have other interests.
What can I say I am well rounded.
Goes on sale Saturday!
Qwertee.com

One powerful cross (not the religious kind)

I got hit pretty hard in Kick boxing class tonight in free sparring. Strong straight cross.
It's cool. It happens. It's all good.
There is a reason Sensei yells, "keep your chin down!" I can guarantee if my chin was up I would have gone down. But my chin was down and my hands were up. The amazing cross plowing through my hands, hitting my fore head and skimming down my face.

Sometimes life throws some punches. Sometimes we block. Sometimes we get hit. Sometimes we are hit pretty damn hard. We may stagger or even fall on our butt.
It's cool. It happens. It's all good.
Life is a fight but just remember a few things.
Keep your hands up and chin down.
Never give up.
And always remember a fight is not about taking turns. Don't just react to what is thrown at you. You punch, duck, weave, slip. Keep punching and throw a few good kicks. You make the fight your own.  You control the fight. You control your life.

Tuesdays is becoming Philosophical Tuesday.

Be philosophical

pretty pretty butterfly

I find it interesting how little changes can have a big ripple of effects. How one's choice can alter other's decisions and lives. The "Butterfly effect" or more technically the, "sensitive dependence on initial conditions" is the essence of chaos. But it is referred to the weather more often. A butterfly flaps its wings in South American can effect the weather in central park, New York. Well it definitely can be related to people and life as well. ( there have been many movies with this theme) Some changes it's not so hard to roll with. Others can be so much more difficult. Some people's changes cause you to make some big changes of your own. Causing others to make changes in their lives. Then we can call it the snowball effect. :) whatever you call it, it is simple concept, life is constantly changing. Be it subtle or with a big bang. The only thing you can't change is change is inevitable.
I took this picture on Wednesday in NC at the Botanical Gardens, I wonder if the butterfly in this picture caused the storms in PA on Friday. Hmmm.
Be strong
Be smart
Be silly

The sites I looked up the information on the butterfly effect. If you're interested.
